Wisdoms Garden Nurturing Resilient Leadership Academy
Resilience -Supervison- Leadership
With the fast pace of twenty first century living, many of us can feel overwhelmed and under pressure. Studies show that stress can negatively affect our decision-making skills, creativity, as well as our ability to work well with others. Quality supervision and support spaces are more essential now than ever. But all supervision is not equal, and not all supervision is quality. In Wisdom's Garden you will experience quality supervision as you strengthen your own supervision and leadership skills. Nice and simple, in a safe and supportive space, moving you away from overwhelm, building your resilience so you really own and deepen your own authentic leadership style.
Because those of us in leadership
roles need a safe, welcoming place
to be
and to become.....
We know now that the challenges of the last few years have really catapulted individuals, teams and organisations into much higher levels of stress and overwhelm, than even this fast-paced environment of working with others is used to. Also as resources get scarce, and demands on us increase, we need to find smart, efficient ways to build resilience and wellbeing. Wisdom's Garden draw's on my twenty plus years experience as a supervisor, facilitator and mindfulness coach. Now is a great time to pause, regroup and to strengthen supervision, resilience and wellbeing skills, investing in individuals, strengthening teams and organisations, and maintaining high quality of service to those our work supports.
There is a growing body of evidence that burnout, or a lack of emotional resilience, is on the increase. It is more critical now than ever that those working with people are supported to develop strong, self-regulation, resilience and leadership skills.
Being time poor and financially challenged does not necessarily mean ignoring this fundamental human need for self care, resilience and mindful leadership for ourselves and those we support. Wisdom's Garden is the smart , evidence based way to meet this need and more.
Seizing the moment and investing in this programme now will address the increasing need for resilience and self regulation in individuals and teams. Being stabilised and supported in this way allows individual workers to strengthen both their commitment to, and enjoyment of their chosen profession.Investing in this way in the individual will also build strong mindful leadership across the organisation.
This evidence-based Resilience, Supervision and Leadership Programme has been specifically developed for individuals, teams, and whole organisations who work with people. The programme integrates cutting edge evidence based practises from the two key disciplines of Cross Professional Supervision and Mindful Leadership. There are six self-paced modules which participants can return to again and again to deepen the learning.
Participants who are enrolled on a bespoke Wisdom's Garden Programme as part of a dedicated team or organisation will be supported with six live coaching sessions to ground the learning in the values, culture and circumstances of their particular organisation.
After completing the programme each participant can continue to learn and be supported through the weekly general live coaching sessions which take place on Tuesday mornings from 8.30 to 9.30am Irish Standard Time ( we take some well advertised holiday breaks). Participants are encouraged to think of Wisdom's Garden as their anchor and support for all things supervision and leadership.
Participants who enrol as individuals will have immediate access to the the general weekly live coaching sessions which take place on Tuesday mornings from 8.30 to 9.30am Irish Standard Time and access to the self paced six modules of the bonus Wisdom's Garden Programme over a six month period.
Participants will learn how to:
Respond more wisely rather than reacting to stressful situations
Cultivate the foundational skills of self compassion and equanimity
Establish and model clear boundaries
Create and model sustainable self care practices
Deliver robust, evidence based supervision support

As a younger woman, working in frontline, management and later as a consultant in the not for profit sector I was the original 'teflon coated', 'resilient' 'ever ready' professional, passionate about my work, and maybe a tad hard on myself as I strived to be perfect. My burnout came out of nowhere and it cost me dearly.
And so my lifelong passion since then has been to ensure that no leader or team member in human care services burns out on my watch. Something that I like to remind myself and others of is that 'we are humans, not machines'.
For years I worked in four different ways as a Spiritual Companion, Wisdom Supervisor, Retreat Facilitator, and Mindfulness Teacher, each offering the wonderful but often depleted leader a different pathway away from burnout, and towards a life of success, meaning, purpose and happiness.
Spiritual Companion
I was an Anamchara or Soul Friend to 450 individuals wanting space for meaning making or a deepening spirituality that is authentic and supportive.
Retreat Facilitator
I designed and delivered one day to eight day silent retreats for over 700 participants wanting to have a time of deep rest, space, nourishment and connection.
Wisdom Supervisor
I have done deep listening and skills building with over 600 people in leadership roles, and 390 human care organisations.
Mindfulness
I have delivered Mindfulness courses including Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, (MBSR), Mindfulness and Self Compassion, and many Wellbeing and Resilience Trainings to over 2000 participants.
Why now?
I have now distilled my experience of supervising, coaching, and facilitation into cutting edge, bite size, holistic yet practical bite-size training. I have brought my twenty plus years of experience to this because we need to address the current challenges of overwhelm and burnout. Never before was it so important to build resilience, competency and mindful leadership than in today's overworked and under resourced leaders.
How is Wisom's Garden delivered?
Wisdom's Garden's Bespoke Group Programme is based on six live (zoom) coaching sessions, and a self paced programme taking you through the six core modules.
Wisdom's Garden for individuals is based on weekly group coaching sessions ( zoom) with the same self paced programme taking you through the six core modules.
This is a carefully curated programme where you will craft, practise and make your own competencies in building resilience, delivering wisdom supervision, not just formally but in how you show up in the workplace everyday, and your particular style of mindful leadership.
Is it practical or theory based?
Wisdom's Garden combines bite sized cutting edge input with lots of support for practical implementation. The live sessions will always focus on these three core elements:
1) Practical challenges and issues you need to address,
2) Strengthening your practical supervision skills,
3) Developing your mindful leadership skills in line with your own values, and the vision and culture of your workplace.
.
What are the programme outcomes?
On completion of the programme you will:
1) Have stronger boundaries, and be more grounded, and happy in your role,
2) Be more skilled in the supervision space,
3) Understand the benefits and the practical application of mindful leadership and communication
especially in difficult circumstances,
4) Know how to integrate mindful leadership - self
regulation as core to leading, supporting and inspiring others.
Certification
CPD certification of 20 hours is available from Mindful Facilitation on completion of the self paced programme programme, and a minimum of four live coaching sessions.
.

This was such a helpful way of getting meditation tips and for applying mindfulness to everyday life. The fact that it was done online contributed to how relaxed and comfortable I was from the very beginning.

Did this course with Dee and have to say it was superb, very enjoyable and very relaxing. Dee is a wonderful teacher and very experienced. It really was very beneficial to me and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.
YOU NEED PEOPLE LIKE YOU
You need flexible, fast, fun, informative online meetings where you can inspire, be inspired, help and be helped, and get live supervision on your current issues. You will be helped will to take the action you need to take, and to support your own evolving supervision and leadership practise.
You are connecting with others who have already been there, so you will have no overwhelm or overload - rather a compassionate welcome as you show up exactly as you are as you take your own pathway to strong mindful leadership.
Why am I committed to seeing
you thrive?
I am lucky to be grounded and happy living in my lovely old
cottage in rural Ireland with my fluffball Kitty and our many nearby friends - birds, rabbits, dogs, and the rhythm of
farm life, all in the beautiful green quiet countryside.
I'm Dee and I love how my connection with human care leaders who are done with overwhelm and burnout is growing from my home in Ireland to all corners of the world with the magic of the Internet.
I'm known in my own little part of the world for creating and holding space for amazing leaders and practitioners who more easily give to others than they can to themselves. So I step into the place of depletion with my toolkit of wisdom supervision, neuroscience, ancient wisdom traditions, and the world of mindful leadership, and in group workshops or in one-to-one quiet places we practice deep listening and support each other to grow in resilience, and mindful leadership as we develop wisdom supervision skills.
I want to let you into a secret. The more I live, the more I realise that there is nothing new under the sun. What ails us in our impoverished, over-busy 21st-century living is our lack of balance between doing and being, our inability to be present, and
so we are fractured, and often cross with ourselves for being so.
The solution is the age-old energies of presence, compassion and kindness, but we have lost our way here too. We expect more and more of ourselves as we accept the ever-increasing demands 21st-century living places on us. In our workplace and leadership roles this becomes particularly burdensome.
So I don't bring any magic bullet or quick fixes to the table. I just hold space and teach cutting edge, evidence based, bite size practical wisdom that we know increases resilience, develops wisdom supervision skills and grows our capacity for mindful leadership of ourselves and others.
Cross Professional Wisdom Supervision Model
With twenty plus years of experience of a supervisor I have seen many changes in our understanding of and approach to supervision . Over years my own approach has evolved to become rooted in the Wisdom Model of Cross Professional Supervision with its four pillars of Contemplation, Compassion, Creativity and Collaboration.
Within this approach supervision is accepted as a profession ‘in its own right’ with a unique set of skills, tasks and competencies. The role of the supervisor is facilitator of learning, change and transformation to enhance client care, practitioner personal/professional development and organisational change. See An Croi Wisdom Institute (http://ancroi.ie) and Supervisors Association of Ireland ( http://saivision.ie) for more.
Mindful Leadership Skills
Mindfulness offers a powerful methodology for enhancing the well-being and the efficacy of leaders as they face stressful and challenging situations.. A steadily growing body of research has demonstrated that mindfulness helps us to become more present, less emotionally reactive, and more deliberate and purposeful in our thoughts and actions. By learning to step out of the innate human tendency to run on automatic pilot, leaders can deliberately create new options for action that can lead us through turbulent times. See UCD Msc in Mindfulness Based Interventions ( http://hub.ucd.ie ) and Mindfulness Teachers of Ireland ( www.mtai.ie) for more.
Wisdom Supervision
seeks to create a safe holding environment for the supervisee, supervisor and the
whole organisation.
The Four C's of Wisdom Supervision are:
Collaborative
Contemplative
Creative
Compassionate
(G. Holton The Soul of Supervision)
If you are here you already know that supervision is a key discipline within service based industries. You do not need another supervision course.
You need a different, more heart centred approach that starts with exquisite self-care, and allows your natural mindful leadership style to emerge as you hone your supervision skills.
The place to do that is with other people like

Please note that I do not provide email support and I do not work week ends.
You know I work with many busy professionals who usually have in common too many things to do and too little time to get everything done. I do not ever think I worked with any professional who did not carry an awareness that s/he wanted more for a long time before s/he finally took action. Waiting until 'I have more time' until the 'time is right'. Often behind this denial of what s/he so badly wants and needs is this fear of 'yet one more thing to do'.
If this is you Wisdom's Garden is absolutely calling you. You will not be overwhelmed with stuff or things to do. In this space we are all about the tiny action which will bring the change you want. As you take the tiny action, more space will open up for you. But you will never be overwhelmed - rather you are invited to take your time and to begin with rest and spaciousness, and growing your self awareness.
The lives are great. There is a group energy and we learn so much from each other. But missing a live is no problem as all are recorded and available for you inside the Wisdom's Garden Hub.

What our Clients are saying
David Kieran
Operations Manager St Patrick's Centre Kilkenny
Here at St Patrick’s Centre, we are undergoing an enormous transformation, as we transition from a congregated institutional model of care, to a community focused, supported self-directed model, in line with the national policy ‘Time to Move On’. Dee has been hugely instrumental in helping us face the not insignificant cultural and practical challenges associated with such a change process. She has worked with individuals, teams, line and senior managers to support this ongoing process. Dee’s involvement has had a very positive influence on the change process.’
Olgae Estridge

Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland
Dee is working with the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland ( MS Ireland) in the role of external supervisor to MS Ireland Case Work Staff. We have had a very positive experience with Dee who demonstrates a great capacity to create a space where team members can reflect on their practice and explore their role within this often complex work. Dee's style of reflective listening promotes an atmosphere where the team can develop strategies that supports quality work with people with Multiple Sclerosis and family members while strengthening the reilience and leadership skills of each team member.
